Book recommendations for books by Rosemary Ellen Guiley

Rosemary Ellen Guiley is somewhat of an inspiration of mine.  She was a prolific writer and researcher on all things paranormal and just seemed to have an abundance of knowledge on all things paranormal.  Aside from that, she seemed like such a lovely person.

You would be hard-pressed to find a paranormal topic that Rosemary had not researched or written about.  She was the author of over 65 books on paranormal, occult, and metaphysical topics. Her most popular were a series of single-volume encyclopedias on topics such as saints, angels, demons, ghosts and spirits, witchcraft, magic and alchemy, vampires and werewolves.  Rosemary lectured at many paranormal and metaphysical conferences and conventions and was a frequent guest on many radio shows, including Coast to Coast AM with George Noory and The Conspiracy Show with Richard Syrett.  She also appeared in many television documentaries on the History Channel, A&E, Syfy, Discovery, Animal Planet, Destination America and TRVL channels.

Most paranormal book lovers will have at least one if not many of her books in their collection.  For myself, I have about 5 and the list is growing.  For those, I don't have a physical copy of, many I have at least read.  On a very personal note, Rosemary sadly passed away in 2019.  It wasn't long before she passed that she shared an article I wrote on psychometry.  It was very much a WOW moment for myself just knowing that someone I had read so many works by, had taken the time to read one of mine!

So for this edition of paranormal book club, here are some of the books I recommend from Rosemary Ellen Guiley.

The Encyclopedia of Ghosts and Spirits

The Encyclopedia of Ghosts and Spirits, Third Edition includes more than 600 entries about ghosts, hauntings, related paranormal phenomenon, the people who investigate them, and the key theories about what causes them. Widely regarded as the definitive reference in the field, this encyclopedia provides comprehensive coverage written in an engaging style. the most current theories about what causes ghosts and the many new haunting cases documented since publication of the second edition. The third edition has been updated substantially with the addition of more than 130 new entries, more than 20 new black-and-white photographs, and an updated foreword by Troy Taylor, founder of the American Ghost Society. Many entries include biographical listings for further reading. Demon; Eastern State Penitentiary; Electronic Voice Phenomena; Haunting; Lizzie Borden House; Myrtles Plantation; Possession; and, Shadow people.

Set out like a real encyclopedia, this is basically a reference guide for every kind of ghost reference you can think of.  I personally love to just flick to a random page, and find a random letter to start with.  Rosemary writes in a very simple to understand manner and provides impeccable referencing so while you may get a simplified explanation of a term, you are also given references to follow up so you have a starting point to read more on a topic.  Something which has helped me immensely with my own research!

The Vengeful Djinn: Unveiling the Hidden Agenda of Genies

If you fear one thing in life, fear the djinn. This groundbreaking book presents the findings of Rosemary Ellen Guiley and Philip J. Imbrogno's investigation into the powerful and mysterious interdimensional beings known as djinn or genies. It reveals what the djinn are, where they can be found—and their hidden agenda against the human race.

Working with material compiled from a variety of sources—including their own case files, Middle Eastern lore, the Qur'an, teachings of Islamic scholars, and the latest theories in quantum physics—the authors explore the relationship between the djinn, demons, fairies, shadow people, and extraterrestrials. They discuss the military's interest in these clandestine beings, offer eyewitness accounts of modern human encounters with the djinn, and reveal the location of interdimensional entry points in North America.

I first came across this book when I was doing some research on shadow people.  This popped up so I had to buy it right away.  My hubby actually stole it from me and read it first.  He thoroughly enjoyed it and then passed it onto a work colleague.  She returned it within a couple of days and said it scared her too much so she couldn't continue.  Intrigued, I read this book cover to cover within the span of a couple of days - something I am rarely able to do, but I couldn't put it down.  It was very well researched and offers some really interesting theories.  While I don't necessarily believe all of them, I appreciate the amount of work and research that went into it.

Rosemary has written more than one book on the Djinn and I always like to provide a free reference in my book club recommendations for those who can't always afford to buy a book so here is one of her other books on the Djinn connection available via public domain: The Djinn Connection

I think all of us have had a dream of a loved one who has passed.  This is a book that offers real accounts and interpretations of what they may be.  If you are on the more spiritual side, you will really love this book.  I know I felt a bit warm and fuzzy after reading it and perhaps it may even give you some comfort too.

With so many more books I could recommend by this incredible lady, I am going to leave it with those 3, but I encourage you to look up her work.  Most are available through book distributors, however, I also grabbed some second-hand copies of her books from second-hand books stores.  The encyclopedias for example can be expensive brand new but I assure you they are worth it.
